Hello and welcome! I’m Joanna, a passionate and dedicated natural child-led birth, newborn, and family photographer serving Sydney's Hills Shire and surrounds.

 

I'm not only a professional photographer but also a proud mother of two wonderful boys. My approach to photography is easy-going, open, and warm—just like the families I have the privilege to work with.

My love affair with photography began in high school, where I spent countless hours developing analog film negatives in the darkroom. Storytelling through images has always been my true calling, quietly simmering in the background as I pursued a career in marketing. While I thrived in the world of professional marketing, my heart remained deeply connected to the arts and photography. I found myself constantly seeking opportunities to DIY shoots, capturing moments that felt meaningful and beautiful.

The turning point came with the birth of my first child. As a “push present” to celebrate this life-changing moment, I invested in a professional camera. From that moment on, there was no holding me back. Balancing the joys of motherhood with the demands of photography wasn’t always easy—especially during those precious newborn days when exhaustion often got the best of me. Between the piled-up dishes, a baby needing my full attention, and coffee that never seemed to hit the mark, I struggled to take the kind of photos I wanted. It was then I realized how much it helps to have someone else step in, someone who can capture those fleeting, precious moments while you focus on everything else that’s on your plate.

Growing up, our home was always a work in progress, with walls rarely adorned with family photos. Many cherished memories were lost when my parents migrated to Australia, and our house was perpetually under renovation. I always felt something was missing, especially when visiting other homes adorned with humble family pictures that radiated warmth and love. This longing inspired me to create a different narrative for my own family.

 

After welcoming my first child, I embraced photography wholeheartedly, scheduling multiple photoshoots within the first year and a half. Yes, it might sound like a lot, but I have no regrets. Those photographs are a constant source of joy, bringing me back to those special moments every time I see them. The few that grace my walls feel like a warm embrace, reminding me of the love and connection we share.

Today, I channel my passion and personal experiences into helping other families document their precious memories. Whether it’s the serene moments of a natural birth, the delicate charm of a newborn, or the vibrant dynamics of a family, I am committed to creating timeless heirlooms that you and your future generations will treasure.
