Fresh 48 Photographer in Sydney Hills Shire

Fresh 48 Lifestyle Session
A Fresh 48 session captures those precious first hours of your baby's life - those tiny details, first family moments, and pure wonder of meeting your little one for the first time. Whether at your birthing suite in Sydney's Hills Shire or during your first days at home, these sessions document the raw beauty of your baby's very first moments.
These relaxed documentary-style sessions are perfect for capturing authentic moments like siblings meeting for the first time, grandparent visits, or those quiet moments of bonding with your newborn. Each image tells the story of your baby's first days in the world.
Fresh 48 sessions typically take place within the first 24-48 hours after birth, either at your hospital, birthing center, or home - wherever your new chapter begins. These sessions are unposed and natural, focusing on the genuine emotions and connections of these fleeting moments.

When to Book Your Fresh 48 Session
The ideal time to book your Fresh 48 session is during your pregnancy, around the same time you book your maternity photos. This ensures I'm prepared and on-call around your due date, ready to document those precious first hours.
As your Fresh 48 photographer in Sydney's Hills District, I'll work closely with you to plan the perfect timing for your session.

Here are the most frequently asked questions.
If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please Reach Out
-
What if I am not comfortable Infront of a camera?Family and newborn lifestyle sessions are designed to be natural and easy, whether outdoors or in-home. No awkward poses or stiff smiles here! You’ll barely notice the camera, and the focus will be on capturing moments as they unfold, not on posing or perfection.
-
I'm worried about my baby/child not cooperating during the shootDon't worry! I allow plenty of time to settle and calm baby if required during the photo session. As for the kiddos, temper tantrums and frowns are all part of the journey! I let the children lead, so everyone can relax and we capture real, unscripted smiles.
-
What does the photography session fee include? The photography package fee covers everything from consultation and planning to any props or wardrobe items I provide, as well as edited digital files. You’ll receive the final gallery, and if you’d like, I can supply raw files (digital negatives) as well.
-
What is the best timing for newborn/maternity photo sessions? For maternity photos, booking between 32-34 weeks gestation gives you a glowing, beautiful belly. Newborn photo sessions are ideally done between 4-14 days old, when your little one is still sleepy and flexible. Sessions are limited, so please enquire at least 6 weeks ahead. Sometimes cancellations create availability, so feel free to reach out if you’re in need of a last-minute session!
-
I don’t have a good space at home for the shootNo worries! I can work with most spaces. I focus on capturing the beauty in your environment, even if its not perfect. If unsure you can share some images with me during consultation and decide on the best approach for your in-home family lifestyle photography session. In-home newborn shoots need very littles space. A light filled corner is ideal. Alternately, we can look for an outdoor photoshoot location.
-
What if something comes up and I can't make the session. Will I lose my deposit?Life happens, and I’m happy to reschedule if something unexpected comes up like illness or emergency. You can reschedule once for exceptional circumstances with no problem.
-
Are professional family and newborn photos really worth it?I completely understand that budgeting for professional photography can feel like a big decision. That’s why I offer flexible payment plans through to make it more manageable. While smartphones are great for quick snaps, professional photography goes far beyond that—it’s about capturing genuine emotions, using expert lighting and composition, and creating images of superior, fine-art quality perfect for large prints that will stand the test of time. DIY photography also makes it nearly impossible to include the entire family in candid, heartfelt moments. Often, one person—usually the one behind the camera—is left out and rarely has photos of themselves. With a professional photographer, everyone gets to be part of the memories, creating a complete story of your family to cherish forever. It may seem like a big investment, but these photos last a lifetime. Think about how much we spend on fleeting indulgences—like coffee runs or a trip to the nail salon. In comparison, professional photography creates something timeless, capturing precious snapshots for you and future generations. I guarantee in 10 years’ time you won’t be thinking about the cost while reminiscing over your beautiful memories.
-
Are the photos edited?Yes! I edit photos to enhance colours and bring out the mood, while keeping everything looking natural. Minor blemishes or skin texture may be smoothed out, but I stay true to your original character—no heavy retouching, slimming or airbrushing. Editing takes time and care, often more than the shoot itself. It’s not just adding a filter; it’s a detailed process, like developing a digital negative. That’s why my packages include a set number of final images. Extra images can be added for an additional cost due to the time needed to edit them.
-
Why do you charge for additional images? Our focus is on quality over quantity—your package includes the most meaningful and beautifully captured images that tell your story. While the photos have already been taken, editing and delivering additional images requires time and resources. Charging for extra images helps cover the time spent curating and editing while maintaining the high standards you expect.
