Joanna has insane talent! She came to our home, supplied the outfits for all of us and all the props. Honestly one of the best photographers out there! I will forever choose her for our family photo shoots in the future.

I could not be happier to have chosen Joanna. It was such a seamless journey from the moment I reached out, to helping me choose my outfit, up to receiving the photos. Thank you so much for creating a safe, fun space, for us to be our authentic selves . Your work is amazing
Meet Joanna... Your Friendly Maternity Photographer
I’m Joanna, and I specialize in elevated newborn photography for parents who want artful images that reflect the beauty and grit of these early days (even the sleep-deprived, milk-stained ones).
I’ll pose when needed, step back when it matters, and always make sure the final result looks intentional, effortless, and timeless.
This isn’t just about what your baby looks like right now. It’s about what it felt like to hold them this small. That’s what we’re documenting.

When to Book Your Maternity Session
Not too early, not too late.
The ideal timing for your maternity lifestyle session is between 32-34 weeks. This ensures we capture your beautiful bump while you're still comfortable, and it guarantees we don't miss these precious moments if your little one decides to arrive early! As your lifestyle maternity photographer in Sydney, I'll help you plan the perfect timing for your session.
What To Expect
03. Book Your Session
I always suggest booking when your bump is round and gorgeous, but you’re still feeling comfy — usually somewhere between 28–34 weeks. It’s that sweet spot where you get the glow and the energy.
2. Plan Your Outfit
We’ll pick something that makes you feel amazing — whether that’s a flowing dress, a fitted gown, or even your favourite jeans and an open shirt. I’ll help with colours and styles so everything works beautifully with the light and setting.
3. Bask in the Moment
Once we start, I’ll guide you the whole way so you’re never wondering what to do with your hands. Expect a mix of gentle direction and candid little moments — cradling your bump, laughing with your partner or family, or just taking it all in.
4. Cherish Your Photos
When you see your gallery, you’ll realise it’s so much more than pictures of your bump — it’s this whole fleeting stage of your life, bottled up to keep forever.

What if I am not comfortable Infront of a camera?Family and newborn lifestyle sessions are designed to be natural and easy, whether outdoors or in-home. No awkward poses or stiff smiles here! You’ll barely notice the camera, and the focus will be on capturing moments as they unfold, not on posing or perfection.
-
I'm worried about my baby/child not cooperating during the shootDon't worry! I allow plenty of time to settle and calm baby if required during the photo session. As for the kiddos, temper tantrums and frowns are all part of the journey! I let the children lead, so everyone can relax and we capture real, unscripted smiles.

What is the best timing for newborn/maternity photo sessions? For maternity photos, booking between 32-34 weeks gestation gives you a glowing, beautiful belly. Newborn photo sessions are ideally done between 4-14 days old, when your little one is still sleepy and flexible. Sessions are limited, so please enquire at least 6 weeks ahead. Sometimes cancellations create availability, so feel free to reach out if you’re in need of a last-minute session!

What is required for a home session?I can work with most spaces. I focus on capturing the beauty in your environment, even if its not perfect. As I use natural light in my sessions, the most important thing is access to a well lit room out of harsh, direct light. I can photograph in dim rooms, hower it does introduce a grainy vintage film look to the photos. Fortuneatly I don't need very much space. A neat, uncluttered room like a lounge room, master bedroom or nursery is ideal. If unsure you can share some images with me during consultation and decide on the best approach for your in-home family lifestyle photography session.

Are professional family and newborn photos really worth it?I completely understand that budgeting for professional photography can feel like a big decision. That’s why I offer AfterPay to split your payments into 4 installments. While smartphones are great for quick snaps, professional photography goes far beyond that—it’s about capturing genuine emotions, using expert lighting and composition, and creating images of superior, fine-art quality perfect for large prints that will stand the test of time. DIY photography also makes it nearly impossible to include the entire family in candid, heartfelt moments. Often, one person—usually the one behind the camera—is left out and rarely has photos of themselves. With a professional photographer, everyone gets to be part of the memories, creating a complete story of your family to cherish forever. It may seem like a big investment, but these photos last a lifetime. Think about how much we spend on fleeting indulgences—like coffee runs or a trip to the nail salon. In comparison, professional photography creates something timeless, capturing precious snapshots for you and future generations. I guarantee in 10 years’ time you won’t be thinking about the cost while reminiscing over your beautiful memories.

How are photos selected and edited?I select around 40 to 45 of the best images from your session to lightly edit. This involves applying colour grading and cropping. These are then delivered for your review, where you can select your final 15 images, or choose to upgrade for extra photos. Then your final selection will be finley hand edited to remove distractions, do any face swaps, remove baby acne, even newborn skin colour and texture, even adult skin and blemishes and clean up backgrounds to remove distractions. Some artistic styling can also be applied such as selective lightening, darkening or blurring of areas. My editing services do not include slimming or body reshaping.

Why is there a charge to purchase additional images? My focus is on quality over quantity—your package includes the most meaningful and beautifully captured images that tell your story. While the photos have already been taken, editing and delivering additional images requires time and resources. Charging for extra images or full gallery upgrades helps cover the time spent curating and editing while maintaining the high standards you expect.
